Literacy
Literacy comprises of reading, writing, spelling and comprehension. It is the underlying foundation of the school curriculum and impacts a student’s overall academic success. Stronger Literacy skills help children become more confident and independent learners, and allow them to participate more effectively in everyday life.
Despite Literacy being taught in schools, some children still require a more explicit, intensive and systematic approach to help address their Literacy difficulties.
Research suggests that successful Literacy intervention incorporates phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, writing and spelling.
At the Speech Language & Literacy Clinic, we offer holistic and individualised programs which incorporate all elements of Literacy. Our tailored programs are also based on current evidence based practice methodologies and aim to promote greater self-confidence and success in the classroom setting.
