Direct (Explicit) Instruction
Direct (Explicit) Instruction is an evidence-based instructional approach found to be highly effective with children with literacy difficulties. It is highly systematic and structured, where tailored sessions are conducted at a brief pace, resulting in greater engagement and mastery of skills by children. Research has shown that Direct (Explicit) Instruction can result in significant gains in academic achievement in terms of Literacy, Numeracy and Language skill.
At the Speech Language & Literacy Clinic, we offer the following Direct (Explicit) Instruction programs: phonological awareness, phonics, reading comprehension, reading fluency, spelling, writing and vocabulary.
