Social Skills
As part of a comprehensive treatment, the Speech Language & Literacy Clinic can also equip children with social skills to help improve their everyday interactions with others.
Our Social Skills programs incorporate:
- Initiating and maintaining a conversation (e.g. turn taking, asking questions)
- Understanding body language (e.g. eye contact, distance, touch, gesture)
- Aspects of talking (e.g. use of volume, clarity, rate, intonation)
- Assertiveness skills (i.e. standing up for oneself, apologising, disagreeing)
- Understanding and managing emotions
- Basic problem solving
- Making and keeping friends.
