Spalding
We offer a range of targeted treatments based on evidence-based practice. Your child’s assessment will help define which approach or mix of treatments will best help them reach their potential and in what time frame.
The Spalding method is a multi-sensory, explicit and systematic approach to teaching children how to spell, read and write. Through this approach, your child will learn to see, hear, say and write the sounds, enhancing their retention and optimising their overall Literacy development.
The Spalding approach has been found to be successful with children with Dyslexia and other reading difficulties whose difficulties stem from poor phonological awareness (i.e. an inability to associate spoken words with written language).
The Speech Language & Literacy Clinic incorporates a variety of approaches in its tailored Literacy treatment programs including the use of Spalding methodologies. As part of your child’s treatment program, you may also be trained in the Spalding approach to help promote their Literacy success beyond the clinic environment.
